The La Chamba potteryproduced today is primarily geared towar export. This trend began in the began in the early 1960s,when peace corp volunteers worked inthe region. An assessment of la chamba traditional crafts revealedthe prodition of pottery as a good source of income. At this time, the traditional formsof pottery change from bowls and pitchers, to a variety of forms that appealedto ''tourist trade''and expor markets.
